The Project


Construction of the High Speed 2 (HS2) rail line will be one of the most ambitious engineering projects undertaken in the UK this century. Its aim is to create faster transportation links between the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ and the South, to ensure the whole of the country benefits from post-Brexit business opportunities.

With preliminary work already underway on the project, providing business premises for HS2 contractors has been top priority for leading international office broking company, Instant Group plc. Offering an and end-to-end, fully-managed office delivery service, Instant Managed Offices provides everything from sourcing and fitting out of the required space to providing tenants with day-to-day requirements such as furniture and catering services.

PBC Scope


PBC was appointed by Instant to provide contract administration and cost management duties for the fast-track fit-out of three office spaces in Birmingham for three major HS2 contractors. The brief required a tailored office fit-out of 40,000sq ft to Cat B and Cat C standards across three buildings to accommodate in excess of 500 staff.

In addition to the office accommodation, the fit-out included meeting suites with integral audio-visual facilities, full IT infrastructure, reception and social break-out areas and refreshment spaces.

The entire project was delivered in just 18 weeks (each phase between 7-8 weeks) and is the start of a planned roll-out of similar business premises by the Instant Group.  PBC is delighted to have been a part of its successful delivery.
