The Project

The Watford Riverwell development is part of a major joint venture between Watford Borough Council and Kier Property to regenerate an area of the town to the south of Watford General Hospital and Watford Football Club. Located close to rail links, the development represents the first phase of the larger regeneration project and comprises three new apartment blocks providing a total of 95 units, with further plans to deliver new shops, community facilities and open spaces.

PBC Scope

PBC was appointed as Bank Monitoring Surveyor working alongside the main contractor Jarvis Construction on the construction of the two private apartment blocks, with the third being retained by Watford Borough Council for affordable housing.

The Challenges

The original site was a brownfield, densely vegetated plot that, prior to receiving planning permission, had been used as an allotment. Having secured permission from Network Rail to work alongside a disused extension of the Metropolitan Line, the whole project ran very smoothly from start to finish.

All of the apartments in Maple Lodge and Oak Lodge benefit from stylish interiors and attention to detail. Large oak-floored living spaces, carpeted bedrooms with custom-built wardrobes, Leicht German kitchens and Silestone worktops give each unit a top-quality finish. In addition, energy-saving appliances and energy efficient communal heating systems have made the entire development more eco-friendly.

All of the apartments are on the market and, not surprisingly, are attracting a great deal of interest from prospective buyers who are looking for a great place to live, play and relax.
