The Project

The Danubius Hotel in Regents Park, London, has one of the Capital’s prime locations overlooking the hallowed turf of Lord’s Cricket Ground. Over the years it has witnessed the triumph of Ashes victories against our biggest rivals from Australia, as well as many exciting international test matches against other cricketing nations.

With the start of the 2018 cricket season rapidly approaching, the hotel’s owners, CP Regents Park Ltd, appointed PBC to project manage the first phase of room refurbishment of 80 of its second and third floor bedrooms and lift lobbies.

PBC Scope

As the hotel was fully operational whilst the refurbishment was being undertaken, PBC had to work closely with the hotel’s management team and contractors to ensure the minimum of disruption during working hours. With air crews from a leading international airline also using the hotel for its crew stop-overs during the refurbishment, it was vital that noise was kept to a minimum to allow day sleepers to rest.

Due to the location of the hotel on a main route through the City, and restricted access to the work-in-progress areas, the delivery of materials had to be carefully scheduled. The PBC Project Management team also had to liaise with the project designer, who was based in Spain. Procuring the specified materials to achieve the high level of finish that had been stipulated therefore required significant input, as many of the items were not available in the UK.

The project was completed on time and to budget and to the desired level of finish.  This met the three principles of the project management triangle – delivery on time, on cost and of high quality and PBC is looking forward to working on the next phase of the refurbishment.
