The Project
Situated on an island site bordered by Cornhill and Threadneedle Street and overlooking The Bank of England, the Royal Exchange is a Grade I listed building and one of London’s most prestigious landmarks.
PBC was appointed as contract administrator, project manager and lead design consultant to transform the 1st floor space.
PBC Scope
The project demonstrates PBC’s ability to support clients across the design disciplines in combination with the wider project management role. Delivering the Royal Exchange, we led on the design and specifying for the entire project.
With a minimal consultant team and no dedicated architect, PBC was able to design and specify this 7,000sq. ft floorplate to deliver a contemporary, modern workspace. The team worked closely with Resolution Property to manage the challenges working on a listed building and as a result we were able to accelerate through the construction program and facilitate a quick letting.
Jack says: “With a number of years of experience delivering workspaces across London, our team has developed a deep understanding of the requirements and expectations for contemporary workspace finishes as requested by both occupiers and agents.
As building surveyors, we also have a better understanding of the technical aspects of an asset and so are able to develop a schedule of finishes in keeping with the Grade 1 listing. This holistic approach alongside our PM role allows an acceleration of the process and gets the asset to market when the client needs.”
