The Project
The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is famous for its deer park, riverside pubs and busy shopping centre with chic boutiques and restaurants. With easy links into the West End and City from Richmond Square by both underground and rail, it is no surprise that it is popular with young millennials and families alike.
Complete in 2022, Richmond Square is a new development bringing a mix of newly renovated listed buildings and new-build residences to the town. Only a short distance from the river, Richmond Station, the town centre with all of its amenities and nearby Kew Gardens, the development has already generated considerable interest from people looking for a more relaxing and stylish life-style.
PBC Scope
PBC was appointed to provide Project Appraisal and Monitoring for the project, which comprises an elegant collection of apartments. This includes a blend of new building and the restoration, conversion and enhancement of existing Grade II Listed and historic buildings of merit built during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The entire development is surrounded by terraces and a tranquil landscaped courtyard, and the Grade II Listed façade of the Georgian townhouse and neighbouring apartments benefits from views over the Old Deer Park, north towards Kew Gardens and east towards Central London.
Plans included refurbishment of the existing buildings, plus cut and carve of the original structure, a new apartment block and excavations for a below-ground car park with vehicle lift. As the buildings were formerly a hospital, the development will also include an NHS clinic and affordable housing.
